Patrons of Helsby Bowls Club have welcomed a new shelter over their artificial crown green bowling site. The shelter, which was made possible by the Protos Community Fund, will enable bowlers to use the facilities all year round. The club is at the heart of Helsby village, providing football, rugby, tennis, snooker and crown green bowling for the local community.

Graham White, Secretary at Helsby Community Sport Club bowls section, added: “The new shelter for the bowls club looks great, and our patrons are very appreciative. It’s important for the whole community that people can play sport and get their exercise in all year round. We are lucky to have a very active set of crown green bowlers, who I know are delighted that they’ll be able to play whatever the weather throws at them!”

Jane Gaston, Protos Development Director said: “We’re proud that the Community Benefit Fund has been able to support fantastic community projects since it was set up in 2016 – including the latest addition at the Helsby Bowls Club.  The fund supports a wide range of causes from community buildings, to sport, heritage and environmental projects. So, if you’re local to Protos and have a great project, get in touch!”
