Description of facility: 22MW Biomass Plant which uses commercial waste wood which would otherwise go to landfill to produce energy for over 42,500 homes.
Operator: Evero owns and operates the Ince BioPower plant and specialises in gasification technology and developing carbon capture projects.
Evero has established one of the UK’s largest portfolios of waste-wood-to-energy recovery assets. Ince diverts over 110,000 tonnes of waste wood from landfill annually and uses it to generate renewable electricity to local homes and businesses.
Evero is further advancing its vision by retrofitting carbon capture technology onto the Ince BioPower plant, targeting a total of up to 200,000 tonnes per annum of carbon removals.

Description of facility: The Protos Energy Recovery Facility located on Plot 8 at Protos is being developed by Encyclis to provide 400,000 tonnes of annual treatment capacity for non-recyclable waste, further enabling the UK to achieve national self-sufficiency in managing waste and compliance with landfill diversion targets. In processing non-recyclable residual waste, the Protos Energy Recovery Facility will generate up to 49 megawatts of electricity – enough to power 90,000 UK homes.
Construction of the new facility commenced in December 2020 and the plant is expected to be fully operational in early 2024. Construction & commissioning of the facility is being undertaken by a joint venture comprising Mytilineos S.A. and Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH, who together have an excellent track record in delivering infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom and around the world.
